Makita Circular Saw - Finding The Right One
Looking to buy a Makita circular saw? The Makita circular saw is an amazingly powerful and handy machine that doesn’t bog down, is light, and cuts through wood of varying thickness quickly and easily. A Makita circular saw can even be used for cutting wood, plastic, metal and even masonry given the right blade.
Now because of it’s power, it’s important that you respect the tool and use proper eyewear and safety precautions when operating it.
As far as which Makita circular saw is best to get, I’ve got a few reviews here of some of the popular brands to help you decide on which one is right for you and the job you need it for:
1. Makita 5007FK 15amp 7 1/4” Circular Saw with LED Light
This saw has a 7 ¼” blade and is equipped with a bright LED that illuminates your cut line to help give you straighter cuts, this switch is independent of the trigger so you will be able to see the cut before you start it.
This saw also only weighs in at 16 pounds which means that you’ll be able to make faster cuts with less fatigue.
This particular brand of saw has gotten 20 reviews on Amazon for an average rating of 4 ½ stars which is pretty impressive, especially since this saw only costs $109.99. Many people say that if you want a tough, dependable and accurate saw, this is the one to go for, Makita saws are the most common ones you’ll find on a jobsite for a reason.
This unit compared to others has better winding on the motor and better brushes, you don’t have to worry about it jerking while you hold it. It’s also quite balanced and easy to make cuts with. If you’re looking for a blade break though, you may want to get the next model up.
2. Makita 5402NA 16-5/16” Circular Saw
At the higher end of the food chain is this beast, it costs about $652.25 on Amazon and is rated 4.5/5 stars as well.
This comes with a large capacity blade that can cut 6-1/4” at 90 degrees and 4-3/16” at 45 degrees. It has an electric brake, a 1,800 watts output, 87dB operation, blade stabilizer, depth control lever, support handle and carbide tipped blade. This all comes in a 28.7 pound package which is quite light considering what it can do.
This is really a powerhouse, it slices through 6x stock easily. The electric break stops on a dime and the stabilizer for the blade is great as well. If you find yourself working with 6 or 8x stock then this is something you should look into. The only downside would be that the safety switch is a bit awkward to get to when holding the saw and trying to pull it.
So if you’re looking for a Makita circular saw, those are 2 options at both ends of the price spectrum, do make sure you look around a bit more before deciding on what is best for you.
